Update:  Turns out that there is already a petition circulating with over 3000 signatures on this and it is not Bishop Ryan Administration that has made this decision but rather Hamilton Public Health in Conjunction with the HWCDSB.

The administration of Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary has decided that students and parents can not attend either the Junior or Senior Football Games this Friday, October 29, 2021. 

The game is outdoors and the Government of Ontario has as of Monday, October 25, 2021, lifted capacity limitations for both indoor and outdoor venues.  Disallowing students to view the football game citing concerns over transmission extends precautions beyond current government standards.

The students of Bishop Ryan deserve to attend school events. School events are part of high school education and a way to build a rich and sustainable school culture. Students have made many necessary sacrifices the past few years with many forgoing rights of passage such as graduations, school trips etc. 

Safety is always a concern but extending precautions beyond current government mandates issued by the Ontario Ministry of Health not only is unfair but also may result in greater mental distress amongst the teens in attendance at Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School.

Please sign this petition to show your support for letting the kids attend school events including football games so long as they are in line with current Ontario health regulations.
