Preservation of The Crown public house, Hill St/Station St Birmingham Uk

The Issue

Hi folks, I'm starting this petition to preserve The Crown public house, which still stands on the junction of Hill St and Station St in Birmingham City Centre. I belive that this pub should be renovated and used for live music events. I believe that it's a building of irreplaceable historical and cultural heritage. Over it's lifetime the building was used to host live music and allow rehersal facilities for many of our greatest names in music... Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath started out there and Thin Lizzy, UFO, Supertramp and many others honed their skills on that little ol' stage. It's been the second home to the hippies, bikers, rockers and punks of Birmingham and those bands that never managed to hit the big time entertained them right there. We lost The Golden Eagle, which had a similar history.. that went during 80s redevelopment. We lost Bogarts, the original rock bar and we lost Mr Bill's another well loved rock bar. We cannot afford to lose The Crown Hotel, it's the last authentic rock bar, it's easily as important to music as the world famous Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles. I'm asking that you sign this petition in the hope that we can leave a legacy dedicated to Birmingham, music and youth.
