Respected Sir/Madam, 

We assume that you are fully aware of the considerable amount of backlash regarding the decisions the administration has taken so far with respect to the evaluation components this semester. This mail will be detailing some of the major issues and concerns that have been raised due to your decision to use Ppryus India Pvt Ltd to conduct the comprehensive examinations for this semester and the last.
1. Ppryus India Pvt Ltd has no declared privacy policy.
2. The software is not listed on the Play Store or Windows store and has been flagged by Windows Smartscreen.
3. The software does not support Linux, Mac and iPhones as it does not meet the requirements these systems have in place for user data privacy.
4. The software asks users to disable antivirus applications they may have and disable Firewall.
5. There have been multiple reports of systems crashing entirely because of the aforementioned software.
6. Many students from Manipal Institute of Technology have reported that their personal passwords have been shared without their consent with a third party software. Sharing of the students’ Aadhaar Numbers, Bank Account Details, and Phone Numbers has also been reported. This is clearly a security breach and in violation to the right to privacy of students.
Students attempting the comprehensive examination from certain devices could be at a disadvantage over the ones attempting the exam from a better device. This is extremely concerning as students in possession of better resources are at an advantage.
7. It is the responsibility of the institute to provide equal infrastructure to all its students as everybody pays the same amount of fees.
8. Furthermore, Ppryus India Pvt Ltd requires 3-5 mbps bandwidth and uninterrupted electricity which is a luxury in most cities and towns in India.
9. Students were in no way or form intimated regarding the requirements in order to give the comprehensive examination before the semester had started. The institute has informed the students regarding the same only two weeks prior to the examination itself.
10. The software PEXA lite which was used by Manipal and had resulted in multiple students facing laptop issues wrt privacy and even reports of bricking. More importantly, Ppyrus is basically the same company in question.

11. Finally, if all the above points are ignored and the administration still believes that this software must be utilised. Is the institute willing to take full legal responsibility in writing, for any theft of data/money, breach of security and additional expenditure that might occur to students in order to obtain and run the software mentioned above?
We request you look into these claims and respond accordingly at the earliest possible. If these requests are not addressed and considered appropriately students are willing to take legal action regarding the same. Privacy is a human right and must be treated as such.
