Revive the original names of Bidri places, save Urdu in the Deccan region
The Issue
There's has been an erasure of the original names of many places in the town of Bidar, Karnataka. These original names were in Urdu and are the remnants of Bidar's deccani heritage and culture. The erasure of these names, whether intentional or unintentional, has caused a deep dent in the rich heritage of the beautiful town.
As a Bidri and an Urdu enthusiast, it hurts to see the beautiful names of the many places of these cities being marred by a total disrespect of a beautiful language. Some of the most prominent examples include the names Ashtoor (Aish-e-toor), Mailoor (Mahal-e-hoor), Baghdal (Baagh-e-adal), and Dulhan Darwaza road (Bahmani road).
The names in the brackets are the original versions of the their mispronounced counterparts. There's no doubt that this change in the pronunciation is due to the inability of some people to pronounce those names but the municipal corporation has done a gross disrespect to the language by officiating those names in the city's records and direction signs.
With this petition, we request the municipal corporation to review the aforementioned names along with the many other names that has been wrongfully recorded to protect the heritage and the beautiful language of Urdu.
Thank you for everyone who's signing this because they believe in this cause.
