Keep the 180 degree (J-Flick) on The Blight.

The Issue

A lot of folks have been circulating the idea that The Blight's ability to perform an 180-degree flick (coined the "J-flick") is an overpowered, uncounterable exploit, and therefore, counts as cheating. This misinformed uproar has caught the attention of the game's developers at Behaviour Interactive, to the point where they are reconsidering their initial decision to allow the J-flick to exist in-game. They are now in favor of changing the mechanics of The Blight's turning radius so that J-flicks are no longer possible to achieve. The purpose of this petition is to convince the developers to stand by their initial decision and allow the J-flick to remain in-game, with no change to the mechanic.

Contrary to the current popular opinion, the J-flick mechanic is entirely counterable, and actually quite healthy for in-game play. As it stands, J-flicking allows for fairer interactions between the killer and their survivors. With J-flicks, the standard chase pattern of "loop the pallet until killer is too close, then drop the pallet," becomes the much more engaging interaction of (for example) "I'm looping an LT wall, does the Blight J-flick around the corner, or does he bump out to give himself a better angle, wasting time and allowing me to medium vault the window back?” This encourages both parties to not only use game sense while in a chase, but to also pay attention to each others’ play styles throughout the duration of the game. And then this, in turn, can help a survivor practice the very straight-forward outplay to a J-flick: to not be where a Blight expects you to be. Simple maneuvering and learned game sense is an entirely effective counter to a J-flick, just as it is in any other situation with an experienced killer. You can see an example of how to counterplay a J-flick here.

So, to the Dead by Daylight developers at Behaviour Interactive, please consider leaving the mechanic as it is. Thank you.
