Do you know anyone around you who was denied a right to obtain justice because of an unsuccessful trip to the police station?

Are you that person?

People cannot live in constant fear of their lives because their first point of contact is less likely to remove then from dangerous situations and more likely to place them there.

Rather, there are cases of Wrongful Arrest. Weeks ago, a woman was arrested in Cape Town awaiting an interview because she somehow seemed suspicious as she was taking selfies. More recently, just yesterday there was a case of mistaken identity reported - The SAPS (read taxpayer) is liable for all legal costs and damages to the  amount of R300 000 for his ordeal. It's interesting to note, isn't it... That a victim can go to the police station with bruises all over her body from someone she knows and an investigation which spans weeks is conducted but someone can just point at a civilian implicating them in a robbery and his identity at the very least is not identified prior to immediate arrest.

Invite others to join the conversation.
