The issue
We are THOUSANDS of people and families who have been negatively impacted by the reckless decisions made by BGC Housing Group.
Delays on our home builds have far exceeded the industry standard. In some cases, clients have been waiting over 3 years for a single-storey home. In this time people have been living separately from their kids, living out of their cars, been driving 150 km round trips every day just to make it to work. Families have paid tens of thousands in variations and even more paid directly to trades to try and get in their homes and nothing has worked.
We are asking for your help by signing this petition to show support to these families who have been struggling for too long.
WA has a worsening affordable housing crisis, with less than 1% of homes in the Perth Metro area vacant. Reports indicate Perth needs around 20,000 rentals. If BGC finished the homes they signed up since 2020, that number could reduce by 20%.
This is a CALL TO ACTION for BGC Housing Group to get it done THIS YEAR.
We have been campaigning for BGC to DO BETTER these last few years and seen no improvement. We have now set out targets for BGC Housing Group to improve the lives of thousands of people.
- IMPROVE payment terms for contractors.
- FACILITATE accurate and up to date communication from Supervisor to Consultant to Customer.
- PROVIDE customers with evidence of works complete prior to issuing updates.
- OFFER housing solutions to customers in desperate situations, including short-term accommodation at decommissioned Display Homes.
- OVERHAUL scheduling, planning and ordering policies for a more efficient timeline.
- PROACTIVE AND TRANSPARENT responses to customers as soon as issues arise, working with your customers to mitigate delays.
- NO FURTHER work on display homes until all residential projects are complete.
- EXTENSIONS OF TIME only issued with detailed review of works carried out and only after attempts have been made to meet current contract timing.
- NO MORE empty threats to customers. Speak to us like people, not lawyers!
- ALL remaining builds under construction with a contract signing date of 2020 or 2021 to be complete by 31 December 2023.
- ATTEND to defects when raised by either client or their Building Inspection Report.
