Pass HB1427/HB1638 and Pass HB1500
The Issue
Dear Mr. L. Scott Lingamfelter, Delegate Jackson Miller, and Delegate Betsy Carr, 3/20/15
House Bill 1427, HB1638, and HB1500 are not just important to my family and I but to many families all over Virginia and the world. I know life can be unfair but in this case it doesn’t have to be. In Virginia many people have died due to some drug dealer only caring about money and cutting drugs with some type of poison that kills. Not only does the victim suffer by the loss of his/her life or a long extended coma or other long term medical conditions, the families and friends of the loved one suffer mentally, physically, and emotionally. While those who have lost their life and their family suffer, the dealer walks free and will repeat his/her actions again and the end result is horrible. How can we go through life knowing what happened to a loved one and at any time we see the dealer walking down the road laughing and smiling, we the family don’t get to laugh and smile anymore and we did not commit a crime. The law states if one sees another commits a crime and doesn’t report the crime and or run from police that person(s) is charged. A person(s) who is aware of a crime before it occurs, and who gives some form of aid to those committing the crime, is known in legal terms as an "accessory before the fact." He or she may assist through advice, actions, or monetary support. A person who is unaware of the crime before it takes place, but who helps in the aftermath of the crime, is referred to as an "accessory after the fact." Common law traditionally considers an accessory just as guilty as the principal in a crime, and therefore subject to the same penalties. So how is the fact of knowingly giving someone drugs that are cut and could kill that person any different than someone watching a crime and becoming either the accessory or the person who committed the crime? If a drunk driver is pulled over and caught driving while intoxicated he/she is sent to jail and faces many punishments because he put others life at risk by being drunk and driving. How is this any different than someone selling drugs cutting the drugs that can kill someone, all to make more money knowing that what they used to cut the product can cause death to that person in many was not just by an over dose. The dealer/someone watches the person take the drugs and the person falls out in the floor dealer leaves that person just so he/she are not caught so therefore victim is left for dead, the dealer/person doesn’t even have to call 911. Which is also considered accessory to death, knowing this person needs help but refuses and just goes on about his/her day. That’s also why I’m petition HB1500 safe reporting be petitioned and signed by others. I’m willing to tell my families story, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make these bills pass. I will not only have many people signed the petition on change.org but we will also have thousands of hand signed petitions. Please E-mail me with questions or what more we can do to help. Amanda’s Law already has many supporters and together I know we can get these bills passed, save our children, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers. Please contact me for more information and anything that’s needed PassAmandasLaw@yahoo.com or shaybeta@yahoo.com and on Facebook we have a group page called Amanda’s Law. Thank you for your time, support, and dedication. I’m more than willing to tell my story about my cousin Amanda who was found dead because of people who left her for dead after giving her bad heroine. We the people of Virginia and all states want these bills passed. We the people want justice for the deceased and their families; we want those who harm/kill others to be held accountable for what they have done. We want others to be safe! By signing this petition I/we agree HOUSE BILL 1427, HOUSE BILL 1638, and HOUSE BILL 1500 should be passed and take effect immediately.
