Best Western: Stop Supporting Animal Abuse

Best Western prides itself on providing value to its customers. But at what cost? Why are Best Western’s guests served food that doesn’t even meet the standards of many low-end fast food companies and US prisons?

Millions of egg-laying hens throughout Best Western’s global supply chain suffer in cruel, filthy cages.  Caged systems are unhygienic and overcrowded. They are so small and packed with so many birds that the hens can’t do anything that is natural or important to them. Often, their body parts are caught in the caging, which results in fractured or broken bones, deformities, and severe feather loss. Some hens, exhausted or unable to move, are trampled to death by their cage mates.

Over 1,500 companies around the world are ditching cages. Global commitments to go cage-free are being made by some of the largest companies in the world, including Marriott International, Accor Hotels, InterContinental Hotels, Unilever, Nestle, Lidl,  Aldi, Aramark, Sodexo, Mondelez, and Compass Group.

Best Western has a tagline: “Best Western for a Better World”. They claim that “Best Western takes care of countless guests every day. It's that same spirit of caring that drives [them] to support numerous charitable efforts around the world.” Best Western has fallen behind on animal welfare and millions of hens suffer as a result.  They have the power to make our world a better, more humane place for animals. It’s time for Best Western to extend its spirit of caring to the animals in its supply chain and commit to going 100% cage-free globally.

Please sign this petition to tell Best Western that you won’t be staying at any of their hotels until it stops supporting this egregious animal abuse.
