On December 12th I attended a protest at Bergen County Correctional Facility to cover the action that was planned that day to show solidarity with ICE detainees being held inside the facility in inhumane conditions. While I was recording I was attacked by Bergen County Sheriffs who assaulted me with batons, pepper spray, and a kick to the head, and was then arrested/charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors including assaulting an officer. I am not guilty of any of these charges and have video evidence on my Instagram and YouTube DaWabiSabiKid to prove it. The sheriffs kept their knee on my neck until the fourth time I screamed “I can’t breathe” by then I was nearly unconscious and injured from the back of my head to my legs.

I am hoping to have my charges dropped so I can begin my healing process as these pending charges keep me up at night and keep me from being able to do my work or live in peace.
