Bennu’s return to California
The Issue
Bennu coming back to California would mean so much to the people who care about her. Her move to Texas changed the everyday lives of the friends, family, and people who were used to having her around. California isn’t just a place where Bennu lived it’s where she created friendships, memories, and connections that still matter today.
It’s so important to celebrate the final year of school together to make the final memories before we part ways. Bennu has impacted us is so many ways, like helping us with our homework, making us laugh in hard times, and comforting when we needed it most.
She has also worked so hard to build a future for herself in California and made so many connections in Palm desert and heavily involved herself in the community and built a strong reputation and respect from her peers.
Continuing her studies in Palm desert is much more than staying near her friends. Palm desert is the home of some of the most important individuals in the country with 165 of the most prestigious lawyers and the crime rate being 3.1% making it the safest city in the Coachella valley.
Bennu has ambitious aspirations for her future. She hopes to study in California and continue her education at the many prestigious schools in the state. 10.2% of students were out of state students. UC schools admit 80% of their students from California graduating.
Last year alone 15 students from Palm desert high school got accepted to ivy leagues and more the 100 got accepted to top UC schools such as 21 PDHS applicants accepted to UC San Diego, 20 to UC Irvine, and 19 to UC Santa Barbara ect.
Graduating at PDHS would allow Bennu to have a substantial lower tuition as she would qualify as a California resident and most schools prioritize California residency.
This petition isn’t meant to pressure Bennu or her family into making a decision. It’s simply a way for everyone who misses her to show just how much she means to us. Every signature represents someone who remembers Bennu, cares about her, and would be incredibly happy to have her back.
