Ben "The Boy From Dingo" Hunt Mural

Ben "The Boy From Dingo" Hunt Mural
The issue
Across regional Australia, silo murals have become powerful symbols of local pride — telling the stories of people, moments, and communities that deserve to be remembered. From sporting heroes to cultural icons, these murals transform everyday infrastructure into landmarks that celebrate identity and history.
We believe it is time for Dingo, Queensland to tell one of its most remarkable stories.
Ben Hunt grew up in Dingo, attended school in nearby Yeppoon, and rose through the rugby league ranks proudly carrying the tag “the boy from Dingo.” Over the course of his career, Ben has:
Represented Queensland with distinction, winning multiple State of Origin series
Represented Australia on the international stage
Demonstrated professionalism, resilience, and leadership across more than a decade at the elite level
Finally achieved an NRL Premiership with the Brisbane Broncos, cementing his legacy in the game
As Ben’s playing career approaches its conclusion, now is the right moment to honor his journey — not just as an elite footballer, but as a regional Queensland success story.
The Proposal
We propose the creation of a two-silo mural on the existing grain silos located along the Capricorn Highway near the Dingo Roadhouse:
Silo One: Ben Hunt in Brisbane Broncos colors, holding the NRL Premiership Trophy
Silo Two: Ben Hunt winning the 2022 Origin series with a 70m intercept try
Celebrate a hometown hero
Strengthen Dingo’s identity and pride
Create a new regional landmark and tourism draw
Inspire young people from regional towns to dream big
Funding and Delivery
At this stage, funding and delivery mechanisms have not been finalised. This petition is intended to demonstrate public support and community interest. If sufficient momentum is achieved, options such as sponsorship, government grants, and community fundraising (including a potential GoFundMe campaign) can be explored transparently and collaboratively.
Our Ask
We respectfully ask:
Local stakeholders and landowners to support the concept
The Central Highlands Regional Council to endorse the idea
The broader rugby league and Queensland community to show their support
By signing this petition, you are backing a meaningful tribute to a player who never forgot where he came from — and a town that deserves to celebrate one of its own.
Let’s put Dingo on the map in a way that reflects its contribution to Queensland sport and culture.
Looking Forward
If this petition succeeds, we will work with the community to explore funding options and ensure the mural is delivered respectfully, professionally, and in consultation with all stakeholders.
