Behind Closed Doors: The Dark Truth of Animal Cruelty
The Issue
Animal abuse is the act of harming and or neglecting animals (and in some cases, people) far too often performed behind closed doors using many different forms like physical attacks, neglect, underfeeding/starving/over-physical training for appearances-sake etc. [1], often to profit off them as tools of exploitation industries 2 also stays silent of Activity Indicator View Angola after the United States enacted a total ban on so-called crush videos late last year, British Prime Minister David Cameron pledged to do similarly in his country while pressing other nations to enact laws against animal cruelty. This should be addressed not only for the welfare of animals, but is sometimes a predictor to other violence. Better protection — along with awareness, can create a more empathetic world.
One reason is in the fact that animal abuse has historically been provided with a very low level of legitimacy; animals continue to be conceptualized as human property rather than sentient beings worthy of due care. Historically, few laws protected them from widespread exploitation in farming, labor and entertainment. However, as time progressed it became more widely recognised that animals could suffer leading to the introduction of early animal welfare laws in 19th century. Recent years
