Fire Almo from Dead by Daylight

The Issue

Almo (aka Ethan) has been the head of Dead by Daylight’s balance team for years now, and has been solely responsible for several horrendous decisions that have frustrated DBD’s veteran players time and time again.

Dead by Daylight’s alienated playerbase is usually engaging in the never-ending battle of survivor mains vs killer mains and/or people who play both sides. Both sides constantly argue about how the game would be more balanced, and most of these ideas are universally agreed upon by the community and promoted in the DBD forums.

The Devs always say they listen, but rarely, if ever, implement these changes based on the community’s requests and feedback. Instead, they make changes that no one asked for and are despised by the community and Fog Whisperers, but even after receiving overwhelmingly negative feedback on the PTBs (Public Test Builds), they move forward with the changes anyway. Every update is riddled with game-breaking bugs, frustrating players even more and are only met with subsequent bugpatches that address minor bugs that hardly, if at all, affect actual gameplay. Players’ biggest concerns are always overlooked, and every Q&A the devs tease changes that people have been begging for for years, only for the devs to forget they were ever mentioned 2 seconds later (looking at you beginning game collapse).

It isn’t easy to balance a game like DBD, but there is no excuse for the game being in its current state. Every update gets worse and worse (4.5.0 being the pinnacle of horrible) while Almo constantly showcases a benign arrogance to DBD’s loyal players who only want to see the game grow and improve (check out his comment to people on this YT video: https://youtu.be/g28KozjF0AI He has shown time and time again that he does not care about the game’s health or it’s players, constanly being a jerk to the game’s fans and even going so far as to berate someone for inquiring about accomodations for colorblind players.

He is an embarassment to Behaviour and the game as a whole. At this point, allowing him to keep his job as head of the balance team is a slap in the face to everyone who loves DBD. There’s a reason players and Fog Whisperers are branching out to other games, and it’s because the community no longer has any faith in the developers at BHVR, specifically Almo. But this is a chance to show the DBD community that you actually care about us.

No matter how alienated or divided Dead by Daylight’s fans are, we can all agree that Almo is the primary source of the game’s problems and that he needs to be removed from Dead by Daylight’s development team as soon as possible. It won’t fix everything wrong with the game, but it will be a major step in the right direction.

Fire him.

Sincerely,

DBD Community
