Music is a subject that our school adores in its many forms, such as band, orchestra, pep band, marching band, choir, and so on. Its development and execution has been a staple of the school, one that even comes through the hallways to showcase the talent involved. However, a very specific staple of music has been absent from the curriculum and from electives; the creation of music has been neglected. There is only one class that does utilize it, but it's an AP class, and ultimately won't be beginner friendly. What's needed is a beginner's class, an introduction to music theory and composition.

As an artist who's taken a band class for over five years, I've always yearned for a way to learn to create music, as despite the fact I was able to play an instrument, it didn't translate towards actual music creation. According to the Antique Sound Workshop, 96% of public school principals state that participation in musical education is important and encouraging to students. Music creation is an example of music education, and would be massively beneficial towards those who want that beginning later in the year if they had never gotten an instrument.
