In the global mission towards cleanliness and sustainability, waste collection and waste disposal play an extremely important role in the health of every individual inside the society. Protecting the environment and the health of the people is the most significant purpose for waste collection. Air and water pollution can result from garbage and waste. It is also understood that rotting garbage releases toxic gases that mix with the air and can cause respiratory difficulties in individuals. If left unchecked in the open, harm can be caused by garbage and waste. A foul smell that can cause nausea to people who come into contact with it emanates from rotting garbage and waste. It may also be a cause of waterborne illnesses such as cholera and pain and discomfort in the abdomen. In addition to that, a proper garbage disposal can help protect the natural beauty of our world, which is flawed by thoughtless waste disposal, and senseless littering. Landscapes can be destroyed by littering, and places with tourist interest can lose their attraction; it is also a burden for those who live in areas where waste disposal and recycling are not effectively controlled. The waste management and recycling industry face many challenges, but there is also a bunch of great development going further to ensure that this is an industry to be proud of and one that will strive to ensure efficient, safe, and environmentally sustainable waste management and recycling for many decades to come.

The Pasig River, which flows through the heart of the Philippine capital city of Manila, was once known for the relative natural beauty it brought to the thriving metropolis. Currently, the river is polluted with rubbish and waste these days and it has become a garbage dump for industrial and chemical waste, which led to the extreme extent of water pollution. Pasig City has a serious problem when it comes to maintaining a clean and waste-free environment. Commonly, citizens often litter and dispose of trash irresponsibly. Therefore, it is important to let the people know how serious this issue is and how it affects the environment.

If this petition is a success, everyone not only people that are living here in Pasig City currently but also the other people who want to live here in this city, it is a major factor that the environment is well-maintained and clean to the eyes and ears of newcomers. As students of Humanities and Social Sciences, we aim to educate the community to follow proper garbage disposal methods and how we must influence individuals to take responsible action towards environmental care. By raising our voices, it empowers people to practice social responsibility as a part of our growing community and it informs the public about the negative impact of improper garbage disposal and management.
