The following questions were asked on Thursday, 12 February 2026. In accordance with the Standing Orders, answers are required by email to TableOffice@parliament.qld.gov.au by Monday, 16 March 2026.

MR CHRIS WHITING ASKED MINISTER FOR HOUSING AND PUBLIC WORKS AND MINISTER FOR YOUTH (HON S O'CONNOR)

With reference to the answer to Question on Notice No. 1565 of 2025 regarding staffing levels at the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) and noting the advice that a breakdown by role type was not available—

Will the Minister advise as at 8 December 2025 (or closest reportable date)

(a) how many staff employed by the QBCC are

     (i) building inspectors;

     (ii) technical inspectors;

(b) within each category; at

     (i) and (ii), how many positions are vacant (reported separately in headcount and FTE terms)?

As a homeowner & advocate for change within the sphere of QBCC Reform; I have a few "QUESTIONS ON NOTICE" that the Housing Minister and QBCC should be required to address & answer under;

  1. public interest,
  2. regulatory responsibilities & accountability;
  3. transparency & legislative compliance; and
  4. adequate delegation & responsibility of the public purse.
