No specific gender for uniforms

The Issue

In our school, for now 175 years girls have worn skirts and boys have worn trousers. They recently said that you can wear the opposite gender’s uniform if you speak to your gp and claim to be transgender, but this is still nowhere near good enough. We shouldn’t be forced to wear the clothing assigned for our gender, it should be that those who are both female and male can wear BOTH uniforms. Keeping it as it is right now is as bad as saying if you are blond, then you wear white, and if you are a brunette, then you wear black. Nobody would enforce this, because it’s stupid, right? So how come the same thing doesn’t apply for this? BCPS claims to be a ‘forward thinking school’, but how are we forward thinking if we are still sticking to stupid traditions and stereo types that should have been erased years ago? In modern day UK, especially a place like Brighton, a boy can go out in a skirt and a girl can go out in trousers without feeling self concious or targeted, so why aren’t we like that? I believe that with enough people we can change this unnecessary rule, and make this simply a fault in history!
