Vancouver, BC teacher Klaus Hardy Breslauer has now been suspended for 3 days, during school closures, for the 3rd time in his career after making multiple racist comments and sharing homophobic and sexist memes with his high school students during the 2018-2019 school year. He has a long history of threatening and bullying students with these sexually explicit, racist, and inappropriate comments, receiving the equivalent of a slap on the wrist following each incident.

The Ministry of Education implemented the Erase Strategy in 2004 which states,

'Every child deserves an education free from discrimination, bullying, harassment, intimidation and violence. The erase strategy is helping ensure every child feels safe, accepted and respected.'

The question needs to be asked, why is this teacher still in possession of a teaching license? Why is he merely receiving reprimands after at least 2 dozen discriminatory remarks and 2 previous suspensions?

As a mother of 4 kids who have spent years in our BC school system and personally experienced countless acts of bullying under a 'zero tolerance policy', I cannot allow it any longer.

If our schools and the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch refuse to protect our kids from these blatantly abusive, easily preventable situations, then we need to. We need to demand the upholding of the 'zero tolerance policy' touted by schools. 

This petition will be forwarded directly to Minister of Education, Honourable Rob Fleming with the purpose of having Klaus Hardy Breslauer terminated and stripped of his teaching license.
