End Age-restriction strata bylaws in BC and Canada

The Issue

End 'No kids allowed' implemented by strata bylaws which pose a challenge for parents in need of housing. Eliminate strata age-restriction by-laws in BC and in Canada.

Reducing available housing options. A lot of time is spent looking for housing options only to discover that strata does not allow children. In many cases age restricted units are much cheaper then unrestricted units. Why not open the market to all potential participants. Reducing the additional burden on families. Were we not all children once?

"Some strata corporations also have age-restriction bylaws." What I have seen as a percentage of available market listings are that there are many strata corporations with restrictions.

As per the BCREA "Strata age restriction bylaws are alive and well."

"When providing any accommodation, service or facility customarily available to the public, the provincial Human Rights Code normally prohibits one person from discriminating against another because of the other person's age or family status, unless there is a bona fide, reasonable justification. But, the Strata Property Act specifically permits a strata corporation to pass an age restriction bylaw."

Evidence also shows that multi-generational living conditions are actually beneficial to mental health and being able to assist within a smaller community.
