Rejuvenate Dakshina Pinakini River

Rejuvenate Dakshina Pinakini River
The Issue
The Dakshina Pinakini is a river in Karnataka that is almost dead and therefore urgently needs Rejuvenation, which will make meaningful, lasting, positive impact on the lives of about 1 Crore people (including 40 lakhs residents of Bangalore), by a complete transformation of the total Environment and Ecology of the River Basin Area, particularly by restoration and conservation of the natural water bodies, springs, lakes, ponds and wells. In the process it will also achieve the conservation of indigenous flora and fauna. GOVERNMENT BODDIES URGENTLY NEED TO SUPPORT.Dakshinapinakini River Rejuvenation Trust. **********
Historically perennial and prosperous, it has found respectful and grateful mention in ancient literature. It is also unique in that it is independent throughout its course – neither a tributary to a major river nor has any tributary to itself.
Its sustainability, through the ages, has been ensured by the Divine endowment of an annual rainfall of about 700 to 900 mm and about 3500 man-made tanks and lakes, on its both sides. The River has assumed considerable importance as it flows through Bengaluru, the world-famous Garden City, with the most salubrious climate imaginable; a city which is possibly the most cosmopolitan in the country and the Silicon Valley of the East.
