This petition is to bring to your notice that there is a presence of an illegal colony adjacent to SDA Phase 1 boundary wall and seems to be a threat to 7000+ current residents in terms of health, safety & security.

Initially, we were informed that the slum present is for the construction workers but when we investigated further, it was revealed that the slum is for people who work along the Panathur & Balagere stretch with no homes to stay. This Slum development is not constructed with the approvals of Slum rehabilitation program in India or respective authorities of BBMP. Also, with the upcoming slum, there will be a high chance of slum dwellers who can breach the SDA Phase 1 boundary walls and might infiltrate into the compound which will lead to havoc and civil unrest amongst the residents of SDA. This also restricts the movement of children within the campus for safety reasons.

Another point to note is that the current contruction is happening right below an HTW (High Tension Wire) which is a great reason to worry as this violation directly impacts the environment, fire and safety situation. The situation is alarming and needs to be looked at immediately. Similarly, a thorough investigation needs to be done to find our how such a dwelling is constructed without the approvals from local governing bodies.

Please note that this petition is not against the people and neither is it questioning their right to live, but against an illegal and congested living provision done without a regard to human safety and security.
