We the residents of Bangalore, are requesting permission to create a pet park in the lndiranagar area. We believe there are many positives to having a semi-permanent or permanent pet park in the Defence Colony area, most of which are stated below. We have also listed a few possible locations in Defence Colony, which are currently unused or could have multi-uses, as potential sites for the pet park.

Advantages of a pet park in Defence Colony-

·        Not only is it a friendly environment for pets to play, it is a great place for pet parents to share their training techniques, pet rituals and more with each other. Thereby creating a safer and more pet friendly neighbourhood in the future.

·        Studies have shown that when pets get adequate mental and physical exercise, they show less troublesome behaviour, which benefits the society as well as the pets ( http://www.center4research.org/benefits-pets-human-health/ ).

·        One of the first activities obedience classes stress on is to socialize. At the park, all pets will learn to socialize with other pets. This can be a great benefit to both the pet parent and the pet, especially if the pet is afraid of people or of other pets when taken for a walk, or if it is overly protective or aggressive.

·        Pet parks promote safety because the pet owners are not walking their pets on busy streets.

·        It’s also a great way to get to know the neighbours better
