West has been suspended by the BBC for criticism on Twitter of BBC's refusal to drop homophobe and misogynist Tyson Fury from Sports Personality of the Year (SPotY). We believe this suspension to be unfair, punitive, discriminatory against and insulting to West and LBG&T individuals and groups. We believe that West's criticism of the BBC - for its refusal to withdraw Fury's nomination from SPotY - is justified. The BBC has largely failed to speak out against Fury's homophobia and misogyny.  The BBC is reinforcing homophobia and being selective in the forms of hate that it tolerates. We therefore call for the BBC to reinstate West immediately and provide a public apology to West and LGB&T communities for the offence it has caused.
