Bath Neighbourhood Health Centre

Bath Neighbourhood Health Centre
The Issue
Wera Hobhouse and the Liberal Democrats are campaigning for a much-needed neighbourhood health centre to improve access to vital health services across Bath.
Many people locally struggle to access local GPs and health services. Between 2023 and 2024, there was a 16% increase in the number of people waiting more than 28 days for a GP appointment across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire. This is unacceptable. People should not be waiting this long to be seen, and the numbers are only continuing to grow.
A new neighbourhood centre would offer high quality, accessible health services for people across Bath- 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. It would include GPs, pharmacists, free advice for people with financial or housing worries, community nursing and accessible outpatient care for people after an operation.
Placing a neighbourhood health centre in Twerton would be an important step toward tackling the stark health inequalities that exist in this area. In Twerton, women's life expectancy is on average 5 years shorter and men's 4 years shorter than the Bath and North East Somerset average. This is unacceptable. That's why I am campaigning for this centre to be located at the heart of this community.
People deserve to be able to see a GP. They deserve quick and easy to access healthcare.
We, the undersigned, support the creation of a new Bath neighbourhood health centre.
