Have Bath & Body Works start carrying Serenity by Jan candles
The Issue
Serenity by Jan is a local start-up headquartered in Scranton, PA created and managed by Jan Levinson (no Gould) since 2008. It was last reported that the candles are being made in the guest bedroom of her significant other's condominium, but a larger base of operations may have been acquired since.
Serenity is struggling to make it in the highly competitive and ruthless candle industry due to production complications and lack of funds. Principle investors such as Scott Investment Group have backed out due to undisclosed personal reasons and various pitch meetings with local investors have not panned out. Most recently, an investment club at a local, Scranton retirement home went public on their negative experience, stating that Ms. Levinson brought her 11 year-old daughter Astird to the meeting, which they saw as unprofessional. It may be time for Serenity to partner with a larger, more experienced corporation.
Getting people to pay premium prices for an unknown product is difficult and while brand awareness campaigns are up and running, Ms. Levinson does not possess the capital to elevate Serenity to the next level. With the assistance of Bath & Body Works, we believe we can turn this ship around by getting Serenity by Jan into brick & mortar and online stores. Association with a strong brand like BBW will strengthen and increase brand equity and with unique scents like Bonfire, BBW can expand their current fragrance line-up to include more diverse options for their customers.
The addition of Serenity by Jan candles in Bath & Body Work's b&m/online stores will also expand reach like never before, allowing for a nation-wide distribution network while keeping operations cost-effective since Serenity will be able to piggy-back off the existing supply chain. In exchange for this, Bath & Body Works will receive a percentage of net revenue along with the benefit of offering something new and unique, while also garnering positive PR by partnering with a local, "home-made" candle chain. We see this partnership as a win-win for both parties and are excited to see Jan Levinson's company experience the resurgence it deserves.
