Reconsider STARescue a rent reduction just as is applicable to other Charity Shops In Basingstoke. Allow their tenancy to continue until the area is due to be redeveloped.

The Issue

STARescue is a registered charity working in the Basingstoke and surrounding areas to rehome animals, ranging from dogs and cats to ferrets, rabbits, birds and any other small animal in need of our care.

For the past 2yrs STARescue has been trying to raise much needed funds from their Charity Shop situated On Basing View, Basingstoke.which they rent from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council.

Most recently the founder's of STARescue put in a heartfelt plea to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council requesting the reduced rent (due to being a Charity) just as they do offer the larger well known Charities situated in the surrounding area's including the town center.

This plea has been rejected & STARescue are left with no option but to vacate the premises on the 4th October 2013. This is going to cause a massive strain at an already stressful time for the rescue and  whilst they continue to struggle with the overwhelming demand needed to continue to help so many unwanted pets/abandoned pets. Many of which have been already turned away by much larger rescue's.

We understand the area is due for redevelopment but ask you to reconsider your decision & the detrimental effect this is going to have on Basingstoke itself, & many animals in need. .
