To allow Brandon Etheridge to attend Cass High School his senior year and participate in sports as he deserves to do so with 12 years of hard work and dedication,
The Issue
Brandon Etheridge has attended Bartow County schools for 12 years and has never been in any type of discipline action, as he has excelled in the classroom as well as the football and baseball fields as he has been awarded several accomplishments throughout the years he attended, and he is a leader and a role model for the younger classman and he deserves his chance to attend his senior year and enjoy life as a typical high school senior. He has the opportunity to take his academic and athletic endeavors to the next level and maybe even be drafted in baseball. His character and his dedication has proven over the years in the community and his opportunities to further his education by attending Division I Colleges at the next level should not be taken away from him. He has worked hard all his life to get to where he is academically and athletically, as he showcased all summer in baseball as he has every summer and visited several colleges and graded a 9 with Perfect Game which is a possible top 15 round draft pick. Brandon has been punished for something he has not done or would never think of doing as he has proven over 12 years of attending Bartow County Schools, in particular Cass High School. It is unfair for a panel of 3 existing of Bartow County Employees to decide the fate of Brandon Etheridge and for him to be expelled and sent to an alternative school and not participate in sports, as this has been doing his entire life and everything he has worked for., (For example First Team All Region 7AAAA in Baseball and Football, All County Baseball and Football, including being named Athlete of the Year by DTN last year) just to name a few. We encourage our kids to follow their dreams and work hard to make them happen, and this decision is actually taking away Brandon's dreams and will affect the outcome of the rest of his life as he knows it. This is what Brandon has reflected on as a devoted Christian, a dedicated athlete, and and warm, loving, and caring human being that has never been in trouble, ever! Brandon's rights have been violated and he should be given his due process by the court of law before anyone makes a judgement on him, especially without knowing all the facts. Brandon's life has been affected and for him to be considered a safety risk at this point as has been decided on by the Tribunal Panel is outrageous and should be overturned immediately so that he can attend Cass High School with the classmates he adores and has been an important part of his life. Brandon has been torn not to be able to participate on the football field since school has started and to be a part of a team that he has helped build and worked so hard at his accomplishments while participating as a leader. Brandon deserves to be allowed to continue his life and to continue to work hard and receieve the education he deserves and to be able to continue his athletics to open the doors of opportunity for his future for College level and possibly at the professional level, and graduate with his classmates. Thank you for your time and consideration with this very important matter as the future of Brandon Etheridge is in others hands. I'm sure the majority, if not the entire student body at Cass High School supports Brandon and the decision for him to be able to attend and finish his senior year with them in unity as they have been together for several years.
