The quality of the water at Watch house Bay and at Orgmore-by-Sea was sampled by National Resources Wales (NRW) last year. They were both given a "poor rating"- the only two in Wales out of 109 bathing designated beaches to have been.

Notices have been put up warning people about the risks of going in the sea and on the beaches. In addition to this sewage polluted water has contaminated a public open space at the parade gardens in Barry and is suspected to be the cause the death of two dogs.

National Resources Wales has demanded the Dwr Cymri (Welsh Water) improve its performance. The risk to public health is totally unacceptable . We the undersigned call on Welsh Water toto take immediate action to ensure that it will stop discharging  sewage into the sea around the Vale. We also call on them to ensure that adequate provision is made for the treatment of sewage from any future developments.
