Barrett Pall, stop monetizing suffering

The Issue

Barrett Pall, who until recently was a model and influencer with no serious political opinions, has rebranded himself as a social justice crusader. While this seems noble in concept, it is clearly disingenuous. Look no further than his attempts to quite literally monetize the social justice movement that took new heights this past summer.

As part of his rebrand, Pall has gone to great lengths to promote a book called White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism. What he has not articulated clearly is that this is not an effort born purely out of his commitment to racial justice. For every sale of the book through his page, he is making money.

He has not disclosed how much money he has made or what he is doing with the money, and this is unacceptable. Further, the book that he is monetizing has a well documented history of criticisms that any casual observer could find upon a quick Google search.

Barrett Pall, at minimum, needs to disclose how much money he is making off of promoting this book. He needs to declare his post as sponsored because he is profiting off of the book's sales.

Finally, he needs to address his behavior and monetization of Black Liberation for what it is - a grift.
