Jun 28, 2015 — Dear Friends and Neighbours,
Yet another update and allow me to fill you in on the developments in our neighborhood that Barnet Council is planning for us without us having a say.
We are going strong with our request to have Cllr Rutter removed as a councilor in our ward and the next picketing is on 2nd July at 6.30 in 1255 High Road, Whetstone, N20 0EJ. We are looking forward to seeing you all there.
We will also be at the East Barnet festival on 4th and 5th July and looking forward to your support there. We need a few more volunteers to man our stand so if you have a couple of hours to spare please come forward and let us know at barnetraad@gmail.com
We cannot fight this fight without you and we all need to take our future in our hands. It will be too late when the waste comes to our neighbor and the plans that Barnet Council has for us materialize. We need to stop them here. We need you to take action and support each other to protect our quality of life, our families and our properties.
It is surreal that we are against the council which was voted to protect our interests but that is the case.
Please, raise your concerns and objections with our council.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE PUT AS MUCH PRESSURE ON OUR LOCAL POLITICIANS THAT SUPPORT BRINGING THE WASTE IN OUR DOORSTEP. Please email of write to:

On the waste and our ward front:
We are expecting the planning application any time so we will be updating you on what are the objections you can put forward soon.
RAAD has conducted their own bat Survey and bats have been detected in the Abbotts Depot. Barnet Council has refused to protect the mature trees in the proposed waste depot claiming it is private property. Communication is published in our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1409433536029416/permalink/1446373299002106/
They also refuse to conduct a proper bat survey according to the Natural England guidelines.
It is important to raise your concerns with the council and email: Ann.Currell@barnet.gov.uk, cllr.m.shooter@barnet.gov.uk, andrew.travers@barnet.gov.uk, planning.enquiry@barnet.gov.uk . Please cc barnetraad@gmai.com in your communication.
In this update I also want to paint a picture of our future in Brunswick Park Ward:
It is important that you ask Barnet council who will benefit from the move of the Mill Hill waste depot in Abbots Depot and why they are spending 13.5m of our taxes in a move that will only last for 10 years?
The council published the traffic survey but are refusing to let us know the method they used to conduct it. We have put in a FOI request and waiting to hear but the fact that the numbers do not add up and the proposed move of the Mill Hill waste depot will increase traffic numbers reinforces the above.
Furthermore, rumors that Barnet Council will also get additional space to move the rest of its operations to the industrial area between Waterfall Rd and Brunswick Park road are increasing. That will make the whole of our ward an area highly polluted by diesel fumes, congested by traffic, declining quality of life and declining house prices.
We have yet to get an answer to the email we sent to Andrew Travers of 23rd April, on what are the measures the Council has taken in case of an emergency on Oakleigh Rd. As you all know there are about 20 schools in the vicinity and Oakleigh rd is too narrow at places for two buses to pass each other. We have asked the simple question: what is the procedure in case of an accident on the road and for e.g. a child gets hit by a car? In case the road is closed by a waste lorry or a 40ton lorry what are the measures the council has taken to prevent the loss of lives? If you think we are talking fiction please note that Barnet Council has ensured we have about 36 movements of waste trucks and 12 movements of 40ton lorries daily. That is BEFORE the promised 50% increase on recycling by the end of 2016 that we were promised by Barnet Council.
On top of that Barnet Council is planning to build 1600 apartments in North London Business Park and the procedure already started: http://barnet.moderngov.co.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=5813
That is because London Borough of Barnet’s has seen the greatest expansion to its population compared to any other London borough and according to Cllr Cornelius interview on Channel 4 and Michael Crick: ‘ we will eventually be full’.
The pics is ‘full’ and it does not describe a rosy future for us Brunswick Park Ward residents.
Everything started with local ward Councillor Lisa Rutter and her abiding by her party's whip and ignoring the wishes of her residents . Of course the closing of the libraries fits in with the plan to have uneducated and uninformed residents as it makes it easy to manipulate.
We have put a few questions in the upcoming Chipping Barnet Residents Forum for Chairman Cllr Rutter and attaching the communication at the end of the update.
We cannot do that without you and we all need to take our future in our hands. It will be too late when the waste comes to our neighbor and the plans that Barnet Council has for us materialize. We need to stop them here. We need you to take action and support each other to protect our quality of life, our families and our properties.

Dear Faith,
We still have not received your email confirming that Barnet Council has received question below for the Chipping Barnet Residents Forum next week.
As residents in Barnet we would like to also ask the following the Chairman of the Forum Cllr Rutter:
1) 'Mrs Rutter, since you became a Cllr for Barnet Council and the Brunswick park ward, your voting actions have resulted in:
a) The closing of the libraries in Barnet
b) turning your ward into a dumpster by relocation the Mill Hill waste depot in our heavily residential area
c) the residents asking for your recall as a councillor as you have publicly said that you are putting the party's wishes above your residents. I would like to ask the exact amount you are paid to be the Chairman of the Chipping Barnet resident's Forum and a councillor that pays no attention to her residents needs?''
2) Why you did not stop the Abbots depot knowing the dreadful impact it is going to have on the residents? Especially now that the council is considering buying additional sites nearby ensuring the whole of your ward will be a dumpster?
3) Bearing in mind that the traffic survey is not clear and the numbers do not add up and on top of the waste you are bringing in your ward, you are also increasing traffic, what could the conservative party had done to you if you had told them that you would vote against that idea of bringing the waste in our heavily heavily residential area?
4) Why is Barnet council refusing to have a social impact survey on the social cost it will have on the residents? Is it because helping companies like the owners of the site making 13m out of residents money is more important than the residents?
5) Would you like to live in Oakleigh rd South and surrounding streets when the dumpster is up and running? We expect a yes or no answer as the question is simple.
6) Do you not think it was incompetent of the previous Conservative administration to sell the Mill Hill site before they had secured an alternative?
7) Given that you are closing the libraries and creating a huge dumpster in Chipping Barnet, what is the point of paying even more tax payers money to yourself and the other members of the forum if everything is being decided on the Mayor's casting vote and residents and their welfare are never really considered?
Looking forward to receiving your email confirming the receipt of the above questions.
Kind regards
Stamo
