Dear Friends and Supporters, Our picketing to recall Lisa Rutter as our ward councillor was successful as local residents peacefully campaigned outside her surgery in Osidge Library. We have pics attached in our facebook page as we cannot attach here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1409433536029416/ Not sure what Barnet Council thought and invited the police to 'protect' Lisa Rutter on the 12th June so we ended up with a few policemen in vans outside the Library. Lisa Rutter went in the library unable to look at her residents in the eyes escorted by Cllr Daniel Thomas. We do wish that Barnet Council protected our interests as strongly by keeping our libraries open and not creating an open dumpster in our area but no such luck. We also need to warn you that there are rumours that the council is planning to buy even more space for the relocation of its operations in the Industrial park between Brunwick Park Road and Waterfall road making our area a proper dumpster full of unhealthy diesel emissions, pollution, traffic and a general decline of our area, properties and lives... We will keep you posted on that. Please see communication to Councillor Concerning our depot below. From: Members Enquiries Sent: 18 June 2015 11:27 Subject: RE: Winters Site, Oakleigh Road South N11 ref-101000381238 Dear Councillor Cooke, We hope that the response below provides a suitable resolution for you and the resident concerned. We welcome any feedback you may have regarding your experience in order to improve the service provided. * Cllr Cooke, Thank you for your enquiry. Please find responses to each of your points below in red. “According to a statement issued by the council, the lease on the Winters site has already been purchased. When will the council take possession of the land, what will the land be used for and when will a planning application for the site be submitted?” According to a statement issued by the council, the lease on the Winters site has already been purchased. When will the council take possession of the land ? Response: The current tenant is in the process of undertaking a phased withdrawal from the Winters site. The Council expects to take possession of the Winters site during July. What will the land be used for? Response: One of the benefits to the purchase of the lease to the Winters site was that the council was able to utilise the additional area to further increase the operational efficiency of the proposed Depot facility and reduce the overall cost of the construction element. Specifically, the waste and recycling bin storage area, commercial waste vehicle parking and the bulking facility access and egress aprons, will be housed on the land contained within the Winters Site. This will be reflected in the planning application that will be made in relation to the proposed Depot. When will a planning application for the site be submitted? Response: a planning application is to be submitted next week for the re-location of the council’s depot facility to Oakleigh Road South. This application will cover both the Abbotts and Winters sites If you are not satisfied with the resolution provided, the matter can be escalated to the relevant department to investigate further. In order for us to escalate your enquiry, please outline why you consider the matter to be unresolved despite the response given. Once this information has been received, we will review your issue and take any necessary action. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Member’s Enquiries Team on 0208 359 2002.
