We just received the below email in response to a few questions we had posed a few days ago. Please see below. We cannot do red as I did in my reply email so have put RAAD in the paragraph in front of our replies sent now. The time has come to take our future in our hands. If not we deserve what we get from Barnet Council. Looking forward to seeing you all on the next picketing to remove Lisa Rutter as our councillor on 2nd July at 6.30 in 1255 High Road, Whetstone, N20 0EJ AAD Barnet 20:49 (0 minutes ago) to abbotsdepot, cllr.d.thomas, Cllr, Andrew, Andrew, Cllr, Cllr, Barry, Jez, Waltraud, KP, Jack, Cllr, Cllr, Cllr, Kanu, Bambos, Derek, james.caven, Letters.Barnet, madashell999, mrreasonable, panos, Parikiaki, roger Please see my answers below in red On 29 June 2015 at 19:35, abbotsdepot wrote: Dear Stamo, Thank you for your email. Please find below my response relating to the points you have raised. Newsletter distribution I believe that the list of postcodes used for the two previous mailings were provided to you in response to a recent Freedom of Information request. I can confirm that the second (i.e. larger) of the distribution lists provided was also used for this newsletter. If you do still require this information, however, please let me know. I am aware that you have made a further Freedom of Information request regarding the latest newsletter mailing and that the response is currently being prepared for you. Please see below answer from Barnet council and stop lying to resdients. RAAD:Temidayo Akindele 15 May to me The information about Capitol Way is in response No 2) of your request i.e. asking for information about 1-8 Capitol Way, Brent. I can advise that the site is located in Colindale and not Brent. I can also advise that we do not have proof of distribution. I hope this now satisfactorily concludes your request. Sincerely Ms Akindele Access to offline information The information shared so far has been provided in a number of formats, and not just electronically. For instance, the newsletter contains a Freephone number for residents to call and request further information in hard copy. There will be hard copies of the planning application available to view at the Building 2 reception of the North London Business Park on Oakleigh Road South, and at the Planning Department reception at Barnet House in Whetstone. Residents who do not have internet access and wish to leave feedback can fill out a form which will be available when viewing the hard copy planning application, or by writing to the Local Planning Authority. Further information about this will be included in the next newsletter. RAAD:so are you actually saying that ALL Barnet residents that are elderly HAVE to go to North London Business park or write to the planning authority to object on a planning application that they do not know when it will be submitted? Social impact survey Regarding the social impact survey, as I outlined in my email sent to you on 22 May, all of the surveys carried out, including noise and traffic assessments, are completed with local people in mind. In most cases, standards are based on ensuring low or no impact on people and the environment. Various measures are proposed as part of this development to avoid or reduce (mitigate) any impacts on the people surrounding the site. In some instances, such as the removal of Winters’ HGVs, the situation will improve for local people. RAAD:See below so please stop lying that you are taking residents into consideration. Temidayo Akindele 15 May 19:35 (59 minutes ago) to me, wwinkler11, kgdave9, jackfrangou Dear Mr Ampatielou, I have been advised that we do not have a social impact survey. You have stated that you want to take the matter further; does this mean you are requesting an internal review? If yes I would be grateful if you could specific as to what exactly you are dissatisfied. Sincerely, Ms Akindele Bat survey All of the necessary environmental assessments required for the planning application have been carried out. This includes a bat survey. You will be able to view the findings of this once the planning application has been submitted. RAAD:Attached i our bat survey. Did not realise that bat surveys are such a secret that we cannot know what they include... did not realise that the Abbots depot bat surveys paid by tax payers money are a government secret but thanks for confirming that. Preservation of mature trees The plans for the Abbots Depot Site seek to avoid the removal of trees wherever possible. The planning application includes an arboricultural statement and construction phase tree protection plan. Both of these documents will be available to view once the planning application has been made public. RAAD:so you are confirming that Barnet council is planning to cut down mature trees and kill vegetation? Diesel fumes The latest newsletter aimed to give an outline of some of the concerns raised during the pre-application consultation and tell residents how the Council has responded. The purchase of the lease for the Winters site will remove the number of less efficient HGVs on the local road network. All of the Council’s waste and recycling collection vehicles meet Euro 5 standards. RAAD:Your numbers do not add up and furthermore you are refusing to tell the residents the methods you have been using to do the traffic survey. We had to put a FOI in order for Barnet council to reveal that. Yet another secret of more misinformation to us local residents? Impact on emergency vehicles Following your original email on 23 April regarding the accident on Oakleigh Road South and subsequent emails relating to this matter (which the abbotsdepot@communityrelations.co.uk inbox was copied into), I issued a response on 24 April which stated: “The proposed Depot will have a Traffic Management Plan in place that will deal with any local emergency incident to ensure business continuity. The Traffic Management Plan will be developed with input from Barnet’s Highways department and will be included as part of the planning application. This will be publicly available on the Council’s planning website once it has been submitted.” This response was issued following liaison with Andrew Travers’ office. RAAD:Thanks for that but what about my question in terms of an emergency and who will be responsible if lives are lost due to the incompetence of Barnet council: is it Andrew Travers or Barnet;s Highways department? Can we have a name please? Depot operations The handling of the recyclable materials, which includes the food leftovers and dry recyclables such as paper and card, is known as bulking. I have provided an extract from the project FAQs below which outlines what this process involves. I would like to reiterate that there would be no “waste processing” at the Abbots Depot Site. This is a term that suggests there would be treatment of the material, but this happens at other sites outside of the borough. FAQ 5: “The material handled at the proposed depot will consist of non-hazardous material, such as dry recyclables (e.g. glass, paper, cans, plastic and cardboard) and food leftovers. All of the material will come from households across the borough of Barnet. Material will not be brought in from outside the borough. There will be no treatment of the material coming to the site, meaning there will be no emissions from waste processing and therefore, no chimney. The material brought to the site will be bulked up (consolidated and placed into fewer vehicles) for onward transportation and subsequent treatment.” RAAD:so bulking up the waste is not a process... how would you call that? how would you explain to the residents the smell, the noise, the pollution, the vermin, the declining quality of life, the increased diesel fumes we will have to breath and the declining price of our properties? I think Barner residents should be aware of your answers in order to make decisions and take their future in their hands. I hope this answers all of your enquiries but please do not hesitate to contact me if I can help any further. I would like an answer to the following: 1) Can we have the post codes that you have leafleted or no clue this time either? 2) A lot of the local residents do not have access to the internet. Are they excluded? I understand that the council is totally ignoring us and does not plan to have a social impact survey. is spending 13.5m of taxpayers money to go into specific pockets and by NO MEANS are they reducing traffic as the numbers do not add up. 3)I do understand that the local councillors and MOST of Barnet COUNCIL does not care about the environment but we have submitted a request for a bat survey and though we have been assured it will happen we simply do not believe you anymore. 4) Residents also requested that the mature trees are preserved as this is vital to our environment. 5) ALso, in your leaflet I do not see a survey on the impact that increase diesel fumes will have on the local residents. You can find a lot of information online and in medical reviews. This was also promised to the residents by Cllr Cornelius. 5) Andrew Travers has still NOT answered my email of 23rd of April as to what is the plan in an emergency given that you are increasing the HGV movements on the road that is really narrow to take them. Please, no more irrelevant comments of the type that 'we will be reducing the HGV movements' as I am much better at maths than the company you employed to do the survey and council officers calculating and of course Lisa Rutter. I would also like to add that the leaflet is misleading. 6) How would you name the process that are happening within the depot which is one of the process the waste goes through? Is it invisible of the council chooses to downgrade and mislead the public once more? Since waste processing will be going on the site for at least 8 hours daily how you plan to ask the residents about it? I do understand that the council does not care but we live there so we would like an answer. Looking forward to hearing from you and wishing you a lovely evening.
