Historic Audley House is now days away from demolition, after Hendon Councillor Joshua Conway pushed through the controversial vote to turn the site into a 7-flat, 4-floor development, which West Hendon councillors opposed unanimously, on Jan 20th.
When this house is gone, a piece of Hendon will die with it.
This house belonged to Lt. Col. Audley Dallas Neeld, who fought in the 2nd Boer War, and whose philanthropy gave Barnet two hospitals.
Neeld's family built the entirety of the Neeld Estate (the area between Brent Cross and the top of the Watford Way), and his fame was such that his portrait is in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery and Royal Collection Trust.
This building is subject to a last-minute appeal by residents to Barnet Council and Historic England, but they need time to assess its historic value.
PLEASE LEND YOUR SUPPORT!
