Dear supporters,

as you know, Audley House has been approved for demolition after a controversial town hall vote.

Since the decision, we've contacted Historic England to appeal the demolition, and have followed it up by requesting a BPN (building protection notice) from the council.

The original appeal was rejected, but we've appealed on grounds (now proven) that Audley Neeld owned the house, and is of sufficient national interest to be recognised, and that is a significant reason for listing the building.

Can you help us strengthen this claim by sending an email?

If you contact

Many thanks to all who can take the time. - Safer Hendon

SUBJECT: Audley House, NW43HG

"To whom it may concern,

We are writing to support the request that Barnet Council issues a Building Preservation Notice (BPN) for Audley House, 96 Audley Road, London, NW4 3HG, due to its architectural and historical significance and the imminent threat of demolition or inappropriate alteration. This building is currently being investigated under an appeal to Historic England, ref. 1492915.

We feel that its former owner Lt. Col. Audley Dallas Neeld is a significant historic figure, and that his home should be a listed building, as Neeld was a nationally important figure, whose portrait hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, and who donated land for two of North London's hospitals.

We strongly believe the property should be considered for statutory listing by Historic England, and are appalled by the council's decision to demolish it.

Yours

"
