Barking Riverside Fielders Cresent Residential Parking Crisis

Barking Riverside Fielders Cresent Residential Parking Crisis
The Issue
Parking Solution at Fielders Cresent, Barking Riverside suitable for everyone.
Recently Barking Riverside Limited has given its residents the option of allowing their visitors to park at Barking Riverside project office car park. This car park has 100 spaces available. Although this seems like a solution to the parking crisis, they’ve restricted our visitors further by closing the car park at 8 pm. Cars left in there after 8 pm will receive a parking charge. Considering there's the option to purchase a day ticket, this car park should be accessible to use 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Additionally on weekdays after 8pm there should be no charge and it should be free to use all weekend.
Allowing 24-hour access 7 days a week will help with the following:
- Stop people from parking in other people’s parking bays
- Stop people from parking in places that block or obstruct builders/people
- Offer us more options for our visitors to park in as there are only 10 visitor parking spaces for the whole development.
- Reduce parking anxiety
Reasoning behind the petition:
Fielders Cresent at Barking Riverside is a residential area and there is currently a parking crisis that is restricting residents and their visitors from being able to park near their homes with ease. The surrounding areas are grid-locked with numerous parking restrictions and fines are being issued to residents who live here.
Only a few properties (some 2 & 3 bedroom properties) are able to purchase parking bays. This ultimately means that 1 bedroom properties are left out of the equation and unfortunately have nowhere to keep their cars without receiving a hefty fine. Additionally, it also means that a resident’s visitor is unable to park their car when visiting them and they too are receiving parking charges. There are currently only 10 visitor parking spaces and they are always full.
Fielders Cresent at Barking Riverside is located a short drive from the A13 and its location can make it difficult for us to travel around and at times can feel very isolating, especially without access to a car nearby. Although we have the EL1 and the London Overground (which is out of use most weekends), when either isn’t running it can make it very difficult to get to place. This is why every household should have access to at least 1 parking bay. Unfortunately building planning went ahead to build 10,000 homes and only offer 4000 parking spaces.
Please can you support the petition and help improve the residential parking crisis at Barking Riverside. Please share so we can find a solution that helps everyone.
