Edward Crouch started this petition to Barclays

Barclays are planning to close this well-used high street bank in April this year. There has been no meaningful consultation with residents and by all accounts, flawed data has been used to claim that only 160 customers use the counter service. The bank is a huge community and business asset with many residents at risk of financial exclusion if they are not using online banking.

In addition, many business banking customers rely on this bank for paying in and other day-to-day business transactions and would put themselves at great risk if they had to transport large sums of money to the nearest alternative branches.

Finally there appears to be no logic to the closure of this branch when there are other branches in neighbouring towns where the distance between them is short, whereas if this branch closes the nearest is either complicated trip into the town centre or an hour round trip to one of the two branches in Rustington and Littlehampton.

As a minimum, Barclays  should immediately halt this proposed closure until a full impact assessment has been undertaken on the serious adverse effect this will have on many residents and businesses in Marine Ward and the wider community.
