Nowadays we’ve noticed that most of the people here in the locality of Tanza, Cavite are doing an open burning to minimize their garbage without knowing that this could result in bad effects in our environment. Here in our project we are aiming to stop the open burning here in our locality since that the locality is not yet taking legal actions through this.

          Our main goal here is to save not just the environment but also our health from health issues that may cause from the smoke coming from the open burning. Also the people living here in the locality of Tanza, Cavite will be the one who will benefit this project so that’s why we’ll be needing their support too; we know this is not easy to do alone; so that’s why we decided to make this petition for us to be able to ask help from the citizens to accomplish our goal which is to stop open burning.

          All open burning poses risks to the environment and public health. Smoke pollutes the air we breathe. Ash pollutes our soil, groundwater, lakes, rivers and streams. Burning anything in the outdoors can cause a wildfire. This is the main reason for us to be able to come up with an idea for our project in addition, burning only approved materials and following state regulations can minimize the potential for these harmful effects. Some might not agree with this project we’ve made because for some reasons others might say or have complaints about what will they do to their garbage if they don’t burn it and as a resolution for this project we’ll also inform them about the law entitled “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act No. 9003 of 2000.” This Act makes provision for the efficient solid waste management, for the volume reduction of the waste, its environment friendly disposal, composting, recycling, re-use, recovery, green charcoal process; for the collection, treatment and disposal in environmentally sound solid waste management facilities whereas it shall be possible to correctly dispose the proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment and disposal of solid waste ;under this Act national research and development programs for improved solid waste management and resource conservation techniques shall be promoted and supported. We’ll also take this opportunity to educate the people about the 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) resolution for their garbage; the most effective way to reduce waste is to not create it in the first place. Making a new product requires a lot of materials and energy - raw materials must be extracted from the earth, and the product must be fabricated then transported to wherever it will be sold. As a result, reduction and reuse are the most effective ways you can save natural resources, protect the environment and save money. By doing this 3R this also has its benefits which are:

• Helps sustain the environment for future generations.
• Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to harvest new raw materials.
• Save’s energy.
• Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change.
• Saves money.
• Reduces the amount of waste that will need to be recycled or sent to landfills.
• and incinerators and allows products to be used to their fullest extent.

          In conclusion we are hoping that this project will be the way for the local authorities to take immediate legal actions to this open burning and also for the people to be aware of how dangerously open burning can affect us and also to educate people about what’s another way for them to lessen their wastes.
