Return Bundy-Occupied Federal Land to the Northern Paiute
The Issue
On January 2nd, 2016, an armed group of right-wing men cosplaying as a militia illegally took over the Malheur Wildlife Refuge building near Burns, Oregon.
Led by Ammon Bundy, son of Cliven Bundy of the Bundy Ranch standoff in 2014, these a̶r̶m̶c̶h̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶t̶e̶r̶r̶o̶r̶i̶s̶t̶s̶ heroes are currently holed up in a wildlife refuge which was formerly reserved for part of a reservation granted to the Northern Paiute people by President Ulysses S. Grant. In 1908, it was declared a Wildlife Refuge by President Theodore Roosevelt, and thus was placed under federal protection from logging, mining, and other interests.

The Paiute have seen their territory shrink from over a million and a half acres to fewer than 760 since the land was granted to them.
The Malheur Wildlife Refuge is part of the birthright of all Americans, bequeathed to us and future generations by Theodore Roosevelt. And the land it stands on was once the territory of the native peoples of Oregon.

The w̶h̶i̶n̶y̶ ̶p̶a̶n̶t̶s̶s̶h̶i̶t̶t̶e̶r̶s̶ proud Americans now occupying this refuge (paid for by the tax dollars of hardworking Americans) are threatening violence if the land is not given over to the "people of Oregon," who they identify as logging, timber, and mining interests.
Well, it turns out that even a stopped clock is right twice a day, because we can certainly sympathize with the first part of that statement!
And in that spirit, we think that the land could indeed stand to be given back to the people of Oregon it was originally taken from: namely, the Northern Paiute people. If these m̶i̶l̶i̶t̶i̶a̶ ̶c̶o̶s̶p̶l̶a̶y̶e̶r̶s̶ fine citizens really are serious about "government overreach," then they should obviously have no qualms at all about giving the land back to the people it was originally taken from, and the Wildlife Refuge HQ given back to the people entrusted to steward it.
But we have to act soon. It seems as though these p̶o̶o̶r̶ ̶l̶i̶t̶t̶l̶e̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶b̶a̶b̶i̶e̶s̶ c̶l̶o̶w̶n̶i̶s̶h̶ ̶b̶u̶f̶f̶o̶o̶n̶s̶ courageous freedom fighters are in desperate need of snacks! (Also, knowledge of how to build a fire.)
