Today I am starting a petition to grant the immediate release of Chauncey Jenkins from prison. Sure we all have made mistakes in life as children and some as adult that we wasn't proud of, but to have Jenkins committing a crime at age 16 which no one got hurt from clearing shows he is only human and he was simple a teen that was pressured by an Adult. I do say an adult because one of the other person involved was age 22. Jenkins has never been in trouble before, in fact he was his mother golden child. Jenkins has no criminal record besides this one and what we is struggling to understand is how can he be charged with Armed Robbery if the gun charge was dropped? How can he be charged if the victim couldn't identify him? The city of Americus Georgia ignorned the facts involved in this case and decided charge Jenkins not as a juvenile but as an adult and sentencing him 20 years I'm prison. Think about it 20 years for a teenager, no first offender act, no probation, no anything accept 20 years. Forgetting two things. One Jenkins was still a child and two he has a mother and family whom love him dearly. I can ensure you that his mother Lafonda Jenkins never imagine not bring able to see her child March across his high school stage for graduation or planning to send him off to college. Instead she has to visit him in prison. Imagine how that may hurt her as a mother! Jenkins received 20 years and go banded from Americus Georgia for a senseless crime he committed as a teenager, now that was too much. After serving 8 years off his 20 years I think Jenkins should be released from prison and sent home to his mother. He has learned from his mistake and received more than what he should've received as punishment. By releasing Jenkins from prison will make a tremendous difference in his mother life because even though she missed the last years of his teenage years and schooling he can come home and finish his education and she wouldn't miss a thing. Jenkins can apply himself by speaking with other teens and letting them know that it only take one mistake in life that will change your dream from a dream to a nnightmare. I'm asking you all to sign this petition so that other teens could be treated fairly and Jenkins can be released from prison and sent home to his mother. Keep in mind that children including teenagers are meant to be educated and taught right from wrong. You can not expect them to learn from their mistakes if you decide that their lives doesn't matter by throwing them in cages.
