Please remove "Under God" from the pledge of allegiance. The words ‘Under God’ were not included in the original pledge. They were added in 1954. It is unconstitutional to force or coerce children to pledge allegiance to God. While the pledge is voluntary it amounts to coercion when young children are required to recite it in schools. The use of the words ‘Under God’ is a form of forced school prayer. The use of the words ‘Under God’ impinges on the proper separation of church and state. The use of the words ‘Under God’ impose a christian pledge on citizens who follow other religions and infringe on the values taught by their parents. The use of the words "under God" are contrary to the first amendment. It undermines the uniting intention of the pledge by alienating citizens who are of other faiths.
