Generative ai such as Chat GPT negatively impacts students creativity and their thinking process. Teachers always encourage students to be as creative as possible and think for themselves but when generative ai is told to be used by the administration and staff, students will be given “the green light”. When the so called green light is introduced in a class, students are able to use generative ai such as Google Gemini, Chat GPT, and other ai platforms to create ideas, images, or solutions. If students are allowed to use ai, then creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills will significantly decline in schools. Telling students that it’s okay to use generative ai in class will make them more prone to cheating and academic dishonesty that could influence if they use ai in college, workplaces, and other environments. Non-generative ai such as Grammarly are useful and can help students fix their writing without doing all the work for them, that is the good kind of ai that many students do support.
