Banking Hub Desborough - Our Post Office
Banking Hub Desborough - Our Post Office
The Issue
Desborough currently does not have a main stream bank facility in the town. We desperately need a Banking Hub within our community and Desborough Post Office represents the most appropriate and sustainable location for this facility. Hitesh, Jigna and their family are active and supportive members of our community.
The closure of numerous bank branches has created significant challenges for residents. Older individuals, small businesses, and those without reliable access to digital banking are finding it increasingly difficult to undertake essential financial transactions. A Banking Hub would play a vital role in addressing this gap; however, its effectiveness will depend on selecting a site that is both practical and trusted by the community.
Desborough Post Office offers several distinct advantages:
Central location and accessibility: Situated in the heart of the town, it is already a well-used and familiar site for residents.
Established infrastructure: The Post Office is equipped for handling cash, secure transactions, and a range of financial services, ensuring a cost-effective and efficient transition to Banking Hub operations.
Community confidence: The Post Office enjoys longstanding trust within the community, providing a strong foundation for the integration of additional banking services.
Business support: Local businesses already rely on the Post Office for regular transactions; consolidating services would save time, reduce travel, and help sustain local economic activity.
At present, the branch operates six days per week and serves not only Desborough but also neighbouring villages, including Rushton, Arthingworth, Harrington, Braybrooke, and Rothwell. The area’s population—currently in the region of 20,000—is expanding further due to ongoing housing developments, which will only increase demand for accessible financial services.
Establishing a Banking Hub at Desborough Post Office would ensure continuity of essential banking provision while strengthening a key community institution.
if we don’t get a banking hub at the Post Office then our nearest facilities will be Kettering, Corby or Market Harborough.
Please support our town and support our Post Office as the only acceptable facility for our town.
