The Issue

In the UK it is still legal for a dog owner to use, or trainer to recommend the use of, what is known as aversive training methods or equipment..

This includes prong collars, electric shock collars and choke leads that restrict a dogs airflow.

Basically the idea is to provide an unpleasant stimuli in order to 'achieve' a desired behaviour from the animal.

These are cruel quick fixes that are giving the dog a poor association with their owners and trainers. Not to mention a welfare issue! For me this is no better than hitting a dog for performing an unwanted behaviour... Give pain to gain? No! Use the alternative kinder method of training, positive association!

I am looking for dog and animal lovers alike to help spread the word about these concerning training methods and help get the painful dog equipment banished in our country!
