The pervasive and impactful influence of YikYak on everyday student life at the University of Southern Mississippi is becoming unbearable for some. Students are experiencing serious negative consequences due to false rumors circulating on this platform.

YikYak, an app known for anonymous message sharing, creates a guise of non-accountability leading to damaging rumors and escalating bullying incidents. False rumors on such anonymous platforms not only disrupt the academic environments but can lead to severe mental health problems, increasing the risk of depression and anxiety amongst the victims. 

It is time to take action. For the sake of our students' mental health and well-being, as well as their academic success, we urge the University of Southern Mississippi to ban YikYak from its campus.
