The practice of weather modification, which includes cloud seeding and other atmospheric alterations, has been a controversial topic for years. In the state of New Jersey, this issue has become increasingly concerning for its residents. While weather modification may have potential benefits such as drought mitigation or hail suppression, it also poses significant risks that can affect ecosystems and human health. For instance, silver iodide used in cloud seeding is known to be toxic to aquatic life (National Research Council). Moreover, the long-term effects on climate patterns remain largely unknown due to lack of comprehensive studies. We believe that until more research is conducted and safety measures are established, this practice should be outlawed in our state. We urge lawmakers in New Jersey to take immediate action by banning weather modification practices within our borders.
