Ban Trophy Hunting

Ban Trophy Hunting
The Issue
It is time to end trophy hunting. It is wasteful and has no place in a civilized world. Animals experience only pain and suffering when they are hunted for trophies and humans have no right to kill them for pleasure.
Trophy hunting is defined as a 'sport in which a hunter kills an animal for pleasure and then displays the animals body to show the hunters 'prowess' '. This is different from animal population control, which should only be carried out by trained professionals.
The time is now to ban trophy hunting. Studies show 50% of animals hunted for trophies don’t die immediately, but are subject to slow, painful deaths. This is cruel and unnecessary. There are many hunting companies that 'can' animals- raising animals from birth only to be shot. It is still legal for endangered species to be hunted for trophies, such as lions, polar bears, elephants, and cheetahs.
Over the past decade, over 1.7 million trophies have been brought back from Africa, over 200,000 being endangered species. Pro-hunting groups claim trophy hunting helps conservation, but the US Congressional Committee found that trophy hunting is directly related to the decline of wildlife.
