Ban TikTok in the United States: Stop the Chinese Communist Party's Influence

The Issue

Ban TikTok

TikTok, a social media platform owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has raised significant concerns about its role in spreading the influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the United States. This app, which has gained immense popularity, poses risks that can no longer be ignored.

The reasons to ban TikTok include:

1.    Data Privacy and National Security Risks: TikTok collects vast amounts of user data, including sensitive information. Given ByteDance’s ties to China, there is a legitimate fear that this data could be accessed or exploited by the CCP for surveillance or other purposes, posing a serious threat to U.S. national security.
2.    Disinformation and Propaganda: TikTok has been criticized for spreading false information and propaganda that could serve CCP interests, influencing public opinion and potentially destabilizing democratic processes.
3.    Support Human Rights in China: The Chinese government imposes strict internet censorship through its "Great Firewall," which blocks platforms like 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), Facebook, YouTube, and independent news sources. While the Chinese people are denied the freedom to access information and express themselves online, TikTok—a platform owned by a Chinese company—operates freely in democratic countries like the United States. Banning TikTok would send a strong message in support of internet freedom and human rights, highlighting the double standards imposed by the Chinese government.

4.    The Role of Wealthy Interests: Billionaires like Elon Musk and others have supported TikTok due to commercial interests, prioritizing profits over concerns about CCP influence. Musk himself has a long history of aligning with the Chinese government to protect his business ventures in the region.
TikTok is not just a harmless app; it is a tool that can be used to expand the reach of the Chinese Communist Party into the everyday lives of Americans. We cannot allow this to continue unchecked.

We call on the U.S. Congress, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to take immediate action to investigate TikTok’s practices and ties to the CCP. Whether by banning the platform or enforcing strict regulations, decisive measures are needed to protect U.S. citizens and safeguard national security.

Call to Action
Sign this petition to demand an end to TikTok’s operations in the United States and to limit the influence of the Chinese Communist Party on American society. Together, we can protect our freedoms, our data, and our democracy.
