Ban the Use of Signal Blocking Phone Pouches in CCSD

The Issue

As an invested student within our educational district, CCSD, I have been increasingly concerned with a trend that has been diverting our attention from bigger problems. Rather than focusing on investing in better lunches or improving the technology within our schools, our district is sizablely fixated on the enforcement of signal blocking phone pouches.

The usage of these phone pouches has been noted by many, including myself, as an unnecessary intrusion, enforcing a blanket policy that fails to acknowledge the useful side of mobile devices in a student's daily life. Daily, we are losing the opportunities to use our phones as calculitarian tools, research devices and an instantaneous means of communication with parents or guardians in case of an emergency.

A U.S. Department of Education report showcases that roughly half of American public schools provide a digital device for every student - this makes the necessity for personal devices for educational purposes redundant. Yet, these utilities are being strangled by the presence of these phone pouches.

While it is paramount we promote focused attention within classrooms, it is also crucial we facilitate an environment conducive to the modern world, striking a reasonable balance. We understand the importance of mitigating disruptions, but it is prompting for us to request CCSD to concentrate on other pressing matters. Matters like the fact that as per USA data, 30 million children depend on the school meals program every day; hence, it is not just preferable but necessary to have quality food on their plates, and technology adequate for 21st-century education.

So, we ask our community to stand with us and let's concentrate on improving our nourishment and technology together. Join us in asking to ban the use of signal blocking phone pouches in CCSD. Please sign this petition today.
