Ban the Use of High-Intensity LED Lights in Cars for Safer Roads

Ban the Use of High-Intensity LED Lights in Cars for Safer Roads
The Issue
I am a glasses wearer, and I have personally experienced the blinding effect of high-intensity LED lights used in cars. The glare is doubled due to my glasses, making it extremely difficult to see clearly while driving at night. This is not just my issue; countless drivers across the country are facing similar problems.
High-intensity LED lights are becoming increasingly popular due to their energy efficiency and longevity. However, their brightness can be dangerously excessive on roads, especially during nighttime driving. According to a study by RAC (Royal Automobile Club), 15% of drivers have suffered a near-miss due to being dazzled by modern car headlights they believe are too bright.
The use of these lights poses a significant risk for road safety. It's time we address this issue seriously before it leads to more accidents and fatalities on our roads.
We urge lawmakers and regulatory bodies such as the Department of Transportation (DOT) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States to review current regulations regarding headlight brightness levels in vehicles. We need them to implement stricter standards that balance both efficiency and safety considerations.
Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone has a right to safe travel without being blinded by excessively bright car headlights. Together, we can make our roads safer for all users.
